Police / Police appeal for witnesses after office chair set on fire in school grounds

POLICE are appealing for witnesses in relation to an incident of wilful fireraising within the multi-purpose court at Sound Primary School in Lerwick last night (Sunday) in which an office chair was set on fire.

A plastic container was also set alight, with aerosol cans used to ignite the flames.

Police said the incident occurred at around 9.50pm.

Officers said a number of male youths wearing dark clothing were observed, with one making off on a pushbike when police arrived.  The fire service was also in attendance.

Police would appeal for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or online. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and callers will not go to court.
