Why is there a single ferry service in the middle of the tourist season?

The Yell Sound ferry has been down to a single vessel for a couple of weeks now.

Our tourism-related business is being hit hard, since visitors cannot book a ferry to get to Yell, and we have heard many other complaints from other ferry users, notably telecoms companies and other utilities, that they have had to wait at Toft for several hours.

Why on earth are we down to a single vessel service in the middle of the tourist season?
