Skeld siblings to walk eight miles in fundraiser for two good causes

Joe, 11, and Kari, 8, will be walking between the Sand Gairdins and Michaelswood to raise funds for the two popular family attractions.

TWO Westside bairns are set to hit the road next month and walk around eight miles between Sand and Aith for a couple of good causes.

Joe, 11, and Kari Fraser, 8, are planning to walk from Da Sand Gairdins to Michaelswood, with money raised set to be split between both.

A date has been provisionally set for 20 June, although it will be weather permitting.

The two bairns from Skeld have already reached their initial fundraising target of £500 despite there being more than three weeks to go.

Joe said he had partly been inspired by his dad Duncan Fraser, who took part in a sponsored walk from Sand to Skeld when he was six.

“My dad just telt me this year that he did a sponsored walk as a bairn, and I’ve seen a lot of folk doing it, so I thought it would be fun to try out,” he said.

He said he has spent a lot of time at the Sand Gairdins and Michaelswood as a bairn – two places important to the Westside community.

The siblings will start their walk at the Sand Gairdins before heading over to Park Hall, where they will take a well deserved break.

After that it is then on towards Aith to finish up at Michaelswood.

People can donate to the Frasers’ fundraiser here.
