Letters / Candidate, not party

It has not been my habit to endorse electoral candidates but in the case of the forthcoming Scottish elections, I am making an exception.

Hannah Mary Goodlad has impressed me a great deal. She has intellect, experience and great commitment to Shetland. I am confident that she can think strategically but also that all requests from constituents for support or information will gain a quick response.

I have never voted SNP, and although circumstances may arise to make me change my mind at some point, that time is not now.

Here I and my family will be voting Hannah Mary. Candidate not party.

She is by far the best candidate on offer, and the best fitted to negotiate the kind of issues and headwinds we will undoubtedly face over the coming years.
