Letters / Vote for Hannah Mary the person
Anonymity is important in lots of situations (e.g. personal safety). I was disappointed, however, to see local print media publish an anonymous and disparaging letter last week. Maybe the author is embarrassed by their views.
I would hope ‘name and address supplied’ letters would be printed in only the most rare and grave circumstance.
I am very happy to put my name to this letter – and make it clear that I am a longstanding member of the SNP, am the Shetland SNP branch secretary, and Hannah Mary Goodlad’s campaign manager (both volunteer positions).
I am voting for Hannah Mary as she is quite clearly the best person for the job as our MSP. The ‘job interview’ process over the last months has demonstrated this.
You would expect me to vote SNP in any case – and that would be true. However, I am devoting a great deal of my time to this campaign (leaving my garden to-do-list very long indeed) because of the truly exceptional candidate Hannah Mary Goodlad.
I have spoken with many people who would like to vote for Hannah Mary the person, but do not support every aspect of SNP policies. My message if you are in that situation is to simply think of who you feel will be able to represent Shetland best.
Who will be able to speak up for Shetland at the heart of government and to influence government policy development from the inside – to always ensure Shetland is considered.
The peak ferry fares is a case in point. Everyone wanted this – but it was Hannah Mary using mechanisms available to her – taking a motion to the SNP annual conference and getting the full support of the party in government, which actually made it happen.
Just think what she could do for Shetland once elected. Vote Hannah Mary Goodlad to find out.
