THE BLUEMULL Sound ferry service dropped to a single vessel earlier today (Wednesday) due to mechanical issues with the Bigga.

The service run with a single vessel on a Saturday timetable from around 3.15pm, with bookings suspended.

The service then resumed with two vessels from 5pm.

Meanwhile the Bluemull Sound service was suspended for two and a half hours on Monday evening due to a crewing issue.

A spokesperson for Shetland Islands Council said the delay enabled a staff member to be brought in from the mainland as cover.
