Council / Leirna expected back in service later today
COUNCIL engineers working on fixing a technical fault on the Bressay ferry Leirna said they are confident the vessel should return to service later today (Wednesday).
A spokesperson for the SIC said the fault has now been identified as “a problem with the cylinder liner seals in the forward main engine”.
The Leirna was taken out of service on Tuesday evening with the much small stand-in vessel Fivla currently providing cover Bressay route.
Updates on the status of the services can be listened to on the Bressay ferry service voicebank on 01595 743974.
