Court / Jail for not complying with community payback order
A WOMAN who consistently failed to comply with the terms of a community payback order has been sent to prison for six months.
Thirty six year old Sarah Irvine, whose address was given as Grampian Prison, had the order revoked at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
She had spent four months in jail prior to being sentenced last May for claiming she had Covid-19 and repeatedly coughing in the presence of police officers in January 2021, whilst on bail for another offence.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank said the order, including a requirement to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work, had been imposed as an alternative to a custodial sentence.
He handed her a six month jail sentence reduced from 14 months to reflect the time she had previously spent on remand.
