Emergency services / Rucksack reunited with its owner

POLICE have confirmed that the rucksack found abandoned on a clifftop at the Hermaness nature reserve has been collected by its owner.

The rucksack triggered a major search for a missing person on Friday night, involving voluntary coastguard teams from Baltasound, Mid Yell and Lerwick.

Following police investigations, the owner of the rucksack was traced on Saturday.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We can confirm the owner of the rucksack has been traced safe and well and they have collected the item from police.”
