Mavis Grind Polycrub could provide visitor information spot

A SMALL Polycrub has been proposed near the parking area at Mavis Grind to allow people to access visitor information before they head into Northmavine.

The rather novel visitor information point is being proposed by Northmavine Community Development Company (NCDC).

Polycrub is a trading arm of NCDC, and the Mavis Grind plans are for a 3×3 metre ‘Peerie Poly Opyl’ model.

The plan would be to have visitor information leaflets and maps located instead for people heading into Northmavine, while also giving a chance for rest.

Mavis Grind is a popular location for visitors, and it is well known for having the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea separated by a relatively thin strip of land.

NCDC project development officer Charlotte Anderson said: “With Mavis Grind being the gateway to Northmavine and many visitors stopping to look at the Geowall, NCDC thought it would be a good spot to provide visitor information about what is happening locally and a rest spot for any walkers/cyclists.

“Siting it next to the car parking area also means you don’t have to go through any gates to get in.”

She also highlighted that the Peerie Poly Opyl model is also used at NCDC’s Bruckland facility for a community fridge, “showing the versatility of the product”.

A planning application shows that the proposed Mavis Grind Polycrub would also have timber decking and an accessible path.

It adds that the Polycrub would help visitors “discover nearby walks, heritage sites and places of interest while planning their onward journey”.
