Marine / Whalsay welcomes first of three new pelagic trawlers
THE NEW pelagic trawler Adenia arrived at her home port of Symbister early this afternoon (Friday).
The 70-metre vessel, built at the Astilleros Zamakona Shipyard near Bilbao in Spain, was commissioned two years ago and has been built for skipper George William Anderson and crew.
The new vessel replaces the Adenia Fishing Company’s previous vessel with the same name, which has been sold to a Norwegian company.
Adenia is the first of three new commissions, all for Whalsay based fishing partnerships.
The new Zephyr was launched in Norway at the end of August and is expected to arrive in Whalsay later this month, with the replacement Charisma planned for delivery later in the year.
