Marine / Lifeboat tows in creel boat
THE LERWICK lifeboat was called out on Monday evening to assist a local creel boat with one person on board that had broken down with gearbox problems in Mousa Sound.
The 10-metre Sadie Joan (LK987) alerted Shetland Coastguard at 6.15pm.
The lifeboat reached the stricken vessel at around 7pm and towed her back to Lerwick Harbour where they arrived at 8.30pm.
Lifeboat coxswain Darren Harcus said: “Although not in imminent danger, the skipper of the vessel did the right thing by contacting the coastguard as soon as he realised he needed assistance.
“Our volunteer crew are always on call to respond and I’m pleased that we were able to help.”
