News / Energy documentary
A FORTY five minute documentary on Shetland currently being filmed in the isles is to be broadcast on German and French television early in the New Year.
The film, produced by Friedericke Schlumbom for Geo Germany, follows a number of islanders as they go about their daily lives.
It also takes a closer look at how Shetland has come to benefit from its many energy resources.
The team has been to Sullom Voe Terminal, visited Foula’s community electricity scheme and spoken to both sides of the Viking Energy wind farm debate.
On Thursday the production team hosts an open discussion on ‘Energy in Shetland – Past, Present and Future’ in the Weisdale Kirk, starting at 7pm.
The documentary is due to be broadcast on Germany’s national broadcaster ZDF in March 2013, as well as on the German/French cultural television channel Arte.
