Hit the nail on the head
Not having previously encountered the concept of “dynamic passivity”, I had to consult a dictionary of philosophy to enlighten myself on its meaning.
Some left ‘seriously unimpressed’ by Shetland development charter
Once again, Mr Brockless has hit the nail on the head, as the dictionary I consulted defines it as: “an active emptying of the mind to fully participate in the present, where emptiness becomes a reservoir of infinite possibility” although it appears the body responsible for producing the development charter has only achieved the first part of the definition; actively emptying their minds; without then progressing to fully participate in the present.
There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that the apparent emptiness of their minds could in any way be described as a reservoir of infinite possibility.
None of the charter’s main aims have been achieved in the developments already inflicted on Shetland, so why should there be any realistic expectation they’ll be achieved in the future?
Mr Hay’s assertion that the charter sets out a clear welcoming message to energy companies has already been proven to be correct through the dominance of SSEN and the destruction they have wreaked on Shetland in the pursuit of profit for their geographically distant shareholders.
Fingers crossed that people like Mr Brockless and Mr Hay, and their contemporaries, maintain and expand their questioning nature and analytical skill, and apply them to ensuring the imposition of developments that benefit transnational shareholders do not destroy Shetland societally, economically and environmentally.
