TWO TEENAGERS were taken to hospital on Friday night after being assaulted on Lerwick’s Esplanade.
Video footage circulating on social media showed a large congregation of youngsters near the port authority office with some kicking and punching a teenager lying on the ground.
Police confirmed they were alerted to the incident at 9.10pm on Friday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The 15-year-old female youth and the 16-year-old male youth were both taken to Gilbert Bain Hospital, and both were subsequently released.
“The investigation is currently ongoing, with officers following a positive line of enquiry.”
