REFORM leader Nigel Farage has arrived in Shetland as part of a tour around the country as the Scottish elections loom.

He arrived at Sumburgh Airport earlier this morning (Tuesday) from Aberdeen, where Reform held a rally the day prior.

Farage was met with protests from Green representatives when he arrived in Lerwick, including the party’s constituency candidate Alex Armitage.

It is understood his visit to Shetland is a flying one, with his private plane expected to depart later today.

Reform will be represented in the Shetland constituency vote in the Scottish parliament election on 7 May by Vic Currie.

His identity was initially unclear, but it was later confirmed that he was a junior doctor living on the Scottish mainland.

Currie appeared via video link at a recent election hustings event hosted by the fishing industry.

He is also the number one candidate on Reform’s Highlands and Islands list vote, giving him a potential route to Holyrood.

The voting system used in the regional section aims to give parties who do not succeed in constituencies a better chance at election, and it is predicted that Reform could see some success through this.
