Court / Johnson warned he could be jailed for breaching court orders
A YOUNG man from Sullom narrowly escaped being sent to prison after he appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday for not complying with a community payback order imposed at the end of last year.
Twenty year old Daniel Johnson did not provide an answer when asked by Sheriff David Harvie why he should not be sent to jail.
Johnson had been given 180 hours of unpaid work plus two years of supervision as part of a community payback order for a dangerous driving incident that involved a police chase in November of last year.
After a long period of consideration, offering Johnson the opportunity to respond, the sheriff decided to give him another chance and continue with the community payback order.
However, should Johnson continue not to co-operate with court orders, he would be sent to jail, the sheriff warned.
A follow-up review has been pencilled in for 4 July.
