Police / Emergency services called out to help in search for missing person

EMERGENCY services in Shetland have been called out to help locate a man who has been reported missing in Lerwick.

The alarm was raised at 6.30pm.

Lerwick lifeboat has been searching an area near Brindister and at Gulberwick, and the search and rescue helicopter was called out.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said they had a number of rescue teams out assisting police with a ‘concern for welfare incident’.

The search stood down later on Sunday evening when nothing had been found.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
