Transport / Inter-island ferries set to resume services later after early morning suspension

INTER-island ferry services were suspended first thing this morning (Sunday) as Shetland was battered by yet another gale.

However, the Whalsay run resumed at 9.15am from Symbister and is hoping to continue its service following the Sunday timetable. Booking is suspended.

Ferries across Yell and Bluemull sounds are still suspended with the next review taking place at 11am (for Yell Sound) and 12.30 (for Bluemull Sound).

Please check the voicebank numbers on 01595 743972 (Yell) and 01595 743971 (Bluemull) for updates.

There are no scheduled NorthLink sailings today and tomorrow (Monday), but the ferry company has already issued a warning of possible weather-related disruptions once services resume on 2 January 2024.
