Sunday’s ferry sailings likely to be cancelled

Hrossey set to leave six hours early on Saturday

SATURDAY’s NorthLink passenger sailings will go ahead – however the Hrossey will leave Lerwick six hours early due to the weather forecast.

Sunday’s passenger and freight sailings are also highly likely to be cancelled, NorthLink has warned.

The Hrossey is set to depart Lerwick at 1pm tomorrow (Saturday) due to strong winds and increasing sea states, NorthLink said.

She will sail straight to Aberdeen, and is expected to arrive on time on Sunday morning.

The Hjaltland is scheduled to leave Aberdeen at the usual time of 5pm tomorrow, though NorthLink warned her departure may be subject to delays due to the weather.

She is also likely to be up to two hours late arriving into Kirkwall, and then into Lerwick as well on Sunday morning.

Saturday’s freight sailings are both under review with a “high probability of cancellation”, with a further update to follow later today (Friday).

NorthLink said that both of Sunday’s passenger and freight sailings are also currently under review, again with a “high probability” of being cancelled.

The ferry operator said there was likely to be disruption from Saturday through to Thursday 29 October due to “strong winds and increasing sea states”.
