News / Ferry services suspended
INTER-island ferry services on a number of routes have been suspended this morning (Wednesday) due to south easterly gale force winds and the associated heavy swell.
Currently affected are the Yell Sound, Bluemull Sound and Whalsay services.
The Whalsay service may restart after 11am, while the Yell Sound service could be off until 2pm.
Meanwhile, NorthLink has cancelled the Kirkwall call of tonight’s southbound ferry. The Hjaltland will now depart Lerwick at 8pm and sail directly to Aberdeen where she is due to arrive at 9am.
Updates are available via the voicebank service or through the transport notification portal on the Shetland News website.
