Arts / Noel Gallagher tribute set for festive gig

AN ACCLAIMED tribute act to Oasis legend Noel Gallagher is to perform a festive gig in Shetland.

Promoters Mac Scotland announced on Thursday that Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Carpets will play an intimate acoustic show at The Dowry in Lerwick on Monday 27 December.

The tribute act, focusing on Noel Gallagher’s band of the last decade, The High Flying Birds, along with the songwriter’s Oasis material, have been called in to play Shetland after Shetland Arts “called time on AB/CD playing Mareel due to a shortage of trained stewards, despite the show selling over 500 tickets”, according to Alan Mcleod of MAC Scotland.

He said he didn’t want to “dwell on the AB/CD situation, despite how unusual the cancellation was”, and said that MAC Scotland were “delighted to bring in a tribute of the calibre of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Carpets at such short notice”.

“We’re independent, resilient and we move on and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to juggle things around at very short notice to bring a band to Shetland over the festive period,” Mcleod said.

Tickets are on sale now here.
