Community / Parkrun event to resume this weekend

THE BRESSAY parkrun will relaunch on Saturday (17 July) after being absent for more than a year due to Covid restrictions.

The popular event is part of a UK-wide network of 5k runs which take place every Saturday.

Participants can run, jog or walk over the five kilometre distance, and while it is timed, it is not a race.

With Shetland being in level zero Covid restrictions, the Bressay event has now been given the green light to resume.

There will be some changes, though, such as lifts back to the ferry from the finish line not being allowed.

Everyone must follow Covid guidance throughout and maintain social distancing before and after the run.

People are asked not to attend if they have any Covid symptoms, or if they have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive.

Meanwhile people are encouraged not to travel out of their local area to attend a parkrun.
