Recreational trust plans holiday park in Unst

SHETLAND Recreational Trust is planning to launch a holiday park on land adjacent to its leisure centre in Unst.

The site would offer standard pods as well as accessible accommodation for customers with complex additional support needs. In addition to the pods, the site would provide areas for tents, picnics and barbecues.

The trust said it is looking to develop the site to provide further attractions, where “everyone can play and have fun together” – with locals and well as tourists encouraged to use the proposed facilities.

It used the example of zip wires and mountain bike hire.

The trust has teamed up with CASE Engineering to assist with the development of the proposals.

It said it proposes developing the site in stages.

The trust welcomes local views or comments regarding its proposals to make Unst a “destination in Shetland”. People can contact mail@srt.org.uk with their views.
