Proved right within a fortnight

The election is over and Shetland has gone “tartan”.

So much for The Norseman’s Home.

Ms Goodlad played down Scottish independence during her campaign, calling John Swinney’s plan for a second referendum in 2028 “overly ambitious”.

However, the ink had barely dried on her letter of ministerial appointment before she was out campaigning for it.

“… I’ve been a member of the SNP and a supporter of self-governance for Scotland since my early 20s”, she declared.

Phew! Those who answered the pleas to “vote for the person, not the party”, must be agape.

During the campaign I was derided and abused by her supporters for pointing out that a vote for her was a vote for the “same old SNP rejected so emphatically in the past”.

I must admit, I didn’t expect to be proved right within a fortnight.
