Letters / The community involvement is gone (Viking Energy)
As Lord Lieutenant Bobby Hunter has now resigned as independent chair of the Shetland Charitable Trust (Charitable trust on the lookout for a new chairperson; SN, 31/05/2019) will he now resume his post as spokesman for the Windfarm Supporters Group?
This was a position held by him when the Viking Energy application was passed by the Shetland Islands Council.
The present views of this amorphous group would certainly be of interest given that the much trumpeted ‘community’ involvement is now over.
Viking Energy is part of a multinational company that will not give a monkey’s about Shetland or its inhabitants and exists solely to maximise the profits for its ‘interesting’ investors.
