Community / Fireworks reminder
LOCALS are being reminded to be aware of animals when setting off fireworks in the coming weeks.
Highlands and Islands MSP Rhoda Grant has put together a leaflet in conjunction with the SSPCA advising people on the potential impact loud fireworks can have.
She added that they could also scare the elderly people.
“Of course I don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun at this time of year, but I really think parents and the public in general, should consider attending an organised bonfire or fireworks event within their community, rather than letting fireworks off in public areas,” the regional Labour MSP said.
“All I want to do is remind folk that loud bangs not only scare the elderly, housebound and frail, but absolutely terrify animals, be they domestic pets or wild animals and cause all sorts of injuries and can even cause death”.
