News / Helicopter lands safely
A FULL emergency was declared at Sumburgh airport on Monday morning after an incoming S92 helicopter, operated by CHC and with two crew on board, reported a technical fault.
Emergency services including fire and rescue as well as the Lerwick lifeboat were alerted.
A spokesman for Highlands and Islands Airport Limited (HIAL) said the helicopter landed safely at 9.20am.
A spokesman for CHC helicopter said: “An aircraft travelling from Aberdeen to Sumburgh requested priority landing this morning at Sumburgh, after the crew noted a technical fault warning light.
“The aircraft will now be thoroughly inspected by our engineers before returning to service. There were no passengers on board.”
