News / Ecstasy purchase proves costly
A MAN from Scalloway who bought £80 worth of ecstasy on a night out has been fined £300 after being caught with the drug by police.
Gordon Keith, of Meadowfield Crescent, was found in possession of eight tablets of the class A drug on Lerwick’s Commercial Street on 29 April.
The 48 year old admitted the charge at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said the offence came to light when police stopped and searched Keith.
Defence agent Tommy Allan said his client acquired the tablets after he had been drinking, adding it was a drug Keith did not normally take.
