News / Wage subsidies on offer
TRAIN Shetland is looking for private companies and local charities willing to offer young people a wage-subsidised job for at least half a year.
Up to 20 employers in Shetland have the chance to benefit from the Youth Employment Scotland (YES) initiative, which will pay for half the minimum wage.
The scheme is to help people aged between 16 and 24 who have just left school, college or university and who haven’t yet found work. Those in receipt of job seekers allowance are also eligible.
The work must be for 25 to 40 hours per week and last for 26 weeks. Employment can start anytime now, but not later than 30 September.
