Letters / Already been to Nesting
I am responding to the comments made by Iain Malcolmson of South Nesting in today’s Shetland News (Wake up, north candidates; SN 20/4/12). I have great sympathy with Iain’s views. It is clear that parts of Shetland, including the Nesting area, have been poorly represented in the past. The reason I know this is that I have been there this week delivering leaflets and speaking to people (not for the first time). I have made it clear that my aim is to represent all people in the ward and not be selective by area.
I had already raised awareness of Nesting, in particular, as I have referred to the area in my leaflet and acknowledged that a lot needs to be addressed “North of Tingwall”, ie. recognising the correct and full inclusion of Nesting and Vidlin in the patch! Please refer to notes on Shetnews. Key transport issues that I have raised are based on experiences actually in Nesting.
I have published my views on the Viking issue and fully sympathise with those that face the possibility of having wind generators as neighbours.
I have been in Hillswick today and will be back again to Brae, Voe, Vidlin and Nesting again soon. I am also looking forward to getting over to Mossbank and catching up with the folk over there.
Please be assured Iain, that I have gone into this process fully intending to represent all residents and not just those located in my immediate area.

Shetland North candidate
