COUNCILLORS will have a busy day next Wednesday when they meet as trustees and as elected members on the same morning.
Shetland Charitable Trust is holding an emergency meeting at 9am in Lerwick Town Hall’s council chamber to discuss how to respond to a threat of legal action from the Scottish charity regulator OSCR if they proceed with a referendum on reform.
One hour later 21 of the 23 trustees will be able to stay in the room to continue meeting as Shetland Islands Council, where they have a busy agenda, including proposals to build a slimmed down Anderson High School for £30 million at Lower Staney Hill.
They will also be looking to appoint a new chair of the environment and transport committee following the resignation of Iris Hawkins as a councillor.
The charitable trust meeting will be the first to be attended by the islands’ new Lord Lieutenant, Bobby Hunter.
