Time to stand up against SSEN
SSEN continues to go on its merry way digging up our roads and generally making things awkward for local people. The standards of reinstatement on some of the sections of the roads are disgraceful.
They now seem to have a divide and conquer approach as indicated in their latest batch of token gesture “consultations”. Their plans should be considered as one complete project and treated as such for any planning application.
I hardly think that the undergrounding concession to the people of Voe is significant, merely indicating that “we have listened and acted”. I don’t think many people are taken in by that.
SSE does not have the interests of Shetland at heart, merely their shareholders and how much money they can make. Aided and abetted by a government obsessed with undeliverable and unaffordable net zero goals they are taking advantage for their own ends
As once again we look at Viking standing idle in optimal conditions for wind power we must ask why was this ever allowed to happen? With a second interconnector we are likely to see history repeating itself unless a complete network is installed. It is simply not good enough for consumers to have to foot the bill for constraint payments.
Come on people of Shetland, it is time that you stood up against SSE and its ghastly plans, just as people on mainland Scotland are doing in ever increasing numbers. Enough is enough.
