Business / Auctioneer hosts whisky valuation event
ISLANDERS with a passion for collecting bottles of single malt whisky have a chance to get them valued for free and – if they want to – have them entered into an online auction.
Valuator Murray Greig of Elgin based Click Whisky Auctions will be hosting a one-day event in the Islesburgh Community Centre in Lerwick on Monday between 12 noon and 6pm.
Greig said: “Members of the public can come in with their bottles, have them valued, and if they think they would like to sell them, they can enter them into the next auction.”
The company is hosting online auctions at https://www.clickwhiskyauctions.com once a month.
He said last time the company came to Lerwick in August some of the local collectors had “quite a good response’ to the whisky they put forward for auction.
“It generated quite a bit of interest, so we decided to come back,” he said.
The auctioneer added that people could also call him on 07557 358541 to arrange private appointments should they be unable to attend Monday’s event.
He said he will be in Shetland for most of the following day (Tuesday) and will be in a position to visit potential clients.
