Emergency services / Yell coastguard tasked in early hours to report of missing person
THE COASTGUARD was tasked at 1am this morning (Monday) following reports of a missing person in Cullivoe in Yell.
The Mid Yell coastguard rescue team was sent to the Garth Wind Farm and located the man safe and well shortly after.
The coastguard said on social media that after checking he was not injured the team ensured he made it home safely.
The Lerwick team and the coastguard rescue helicopter were also tasked, but they were stood down whilst en route.
Meanwhile the fire service was called out to reports of “garden furniture” on fire at a house in Lerwick at the weekend.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.36pm on Saturday, 4 June to reports of garden furniture on fire on Pegasus Place, Lerwick, which was affecting a dwelling.
“Operations control mobilised two appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire and make the area safe. There were no reported casualties.”
