Peter Wood's CD 'Out of the Shadows' has been judged the best of its kind in 2016.

A SHETLAND-based accordionist has won an award from the National Association of Accordion & Fiddle Clubs.

Peter Wood received the CD of the Year 2016 prize at the weekend for his Shetland dance band record Out Of The Shadows, which was released last year.

The album features contributions from local musicians Brian and Arthur Nicholson, Maggie Adamson and Graham Jamieson.

“I’m absolutely delighted to get the award,” Wood said.

“It was totally unexpected. I’m really chuffed to keep Shetland on the music map.”
