News / Construction industry initiative
THE Anderson High School building site at Lerwick’s Lower Staney Hill is opening its doors on Wednesday to anybody interested in taking up a career in the construction industry.
The Open Doors 2016 – Get Into Construction event is a national initiative organised by the trade association Build UK and the industry’s training board CITB.
Such events are targeted at young people considering a career in the construction industry, but can also be attended by those looking for a change of career or a new challenge.
In Shetland, Morrison Construction is offering the opportunity to look behind the scenes of the new high school construction site to get a taste of the industry and learn about the diverse range of careers within construction.
Places are still available and can be booked via the Open Doors website at: http://opendoors.construction/account/bookings/371/
There will be four timeslots throughout the afternoon, each lasting 90 minutes.
The first session runs from 12 noon until 1.30pm and the last session of the afternoon will be between 4.30pm and 6pm.
Those attending will be given a tour of the site and members of the team will discuss their own career pathways.
