SHETLAND’S first instrumental rock band Nomadia are releasing their debut EP Terra Firma next month with a concert at Lerwick’s British Legion.
The four piece have built up an enthusiastic following over the past two years, with each member having their own musical pedigree.
Band members include acclaimed jazz saxophonist Norman Willmore on bass, the prolific Lewis Murray on drums, and innovative rock guitarists Brydone Williamson and Patrick Mainland.
The music was recorded by Heavy Metal Buffet’s Jamie Hatch at Stevie Hook’s Wobblygang Hut studios, and produced by local musician Ewan Nowak, whose efforts have been highly praised by the band.
Drummer Murray said: “For the first time we were hearing our music in the way we imagined it in our heads.”
The CD goes on sale at the Legion concert on 6 December, when Nomadia will be supported by popular local acts Wind Up Projectiles and Ten Tonne Dozer.
Doors open at 8.30pm and entry costs £5. A taster of their music can be heard here, and more information is available on their Facebook page here.
