News / Hefty fine for threat
A YOUNG construction worker netted a hefty fine at Lerwick Sheriff Court after admitting sending threatening text messages to his former partner while at the Total gas plant construction site.
Sheriff Philip Mann told Martyn Neeson, of 5 Smuggabank, Mossbank that the reference to a gun in one of the messages made this a particularly serious case.
Fining the 20-year-old £1,000, the sheriff said his behavior had been “immature and childish” and advised him to take a long hard look at himself.
Referring to possible security implications at the massive construction site, the sheriff added: “You are lucky perhaps if you are going back to work.”
