News / Green day
TWO Brae households have agreed to open their doors this Saturday to let people learn about energy efficiency and domestic renewables.
Jim Dickson and Phil Ross will showcase their wind turbines, solar PV, hot water systems, insulation and air source heat pumps to demonstrate how to save money while cutting your carbon footprint.
The houses are open between 10am and 4pm as part of the national Green Homes Network Open Day.
Both houses are close to Brae Boating Club, Dickson’s standing opposite with a prominent wind turbine outside, while Ross’s home is further back up the Greenhoulls Park cul-de-sac signposted on the main road.
More information on the open day – including case studies – can be found at www.greenhomesopenday.org.uk, by emailing greenhomes@est.org.uk, or calling Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282.
Organisers said that to assist homeowners with the upfront costs, the Scottish government was offering interest free loans up to £10,000 to install renewables systems.
