News / Internet off
INTERNET users in Shetland are in for a frustrating day after the Faroese SHEFA-2 fibre-optic cable developed a second fault.
More than 1,000 Shetland Broadband customers have no Internet at all, while others are plagued by slow speeds.
The SHEFA-2 cable was damaged by scallop dredgers, south of Orkney, last week.
As traffic is being re-routed via Faroe and Iceland, a second fault developed in the cable, this time in London.
Efforts are ongoing to re-route traffic via Denmark, while repair work in London is expected to take up the rest of the day.
The damage of the SHEFA-2 cable, south of Orkney will not be repaired before the weekend.
