News / New Citroen service
THE CITROEN garage in Brae has changed hands once again and will be trading under the name Hillside Motors from Monday.
New owner Martin Tregonning quashed rumours that the business had closed, saying instead they hoped to provide a greater range of Citroen vehicles and better prices.
The new business is in the process of signing a deal with a mainland dealer to supply vehicles to the isles.
Tregonning said: “It is increasingly difficult for small independent dealerships to compete against large mainland dealers and so we are looking into teaming up with a mainland dealer to supply the Shetland market.
“Old favourites, like the Berlingo, or indeed any other Citroen model, will still be available through a local company, but with the backing and buying power of a large dealership behind it.”
The Brae garage was sold by Graham Henderson who runs Star Rent-A-Car, because, as Tregonning said, he was so busy.
The new garage will keep on most of the former Citroen Garage workforce who will continue to provide servicing and repairs to all Citroen owners, as well as other model owners.
“We are excited to be able to branch out into more than just Citroen, and give a good all-round service,” Tregonning said.
“We are keen to welcome all Citroen owners, regardless of where they purchased their vehicles, and promise to provide all Citroen owners with the same level of high service.”
