Letters / Back to the dark ages
In response to Damien’s letter (Keep the COPE shops open, SN, 27 March 13) I don’t think he will find business in the Harrison Square area benefitting from more trade with the recent refurbishments.
In fact, I would think it will do the opposite as there are bollards going up outside the chip shop and behind the camera shop, so there will be no through road.
Another thing is that they are going to build a pavement (same as outside TSB) and just opposite the chip shop, which I believe will be more or less in line with the other pavements so it could be very difficult for busses pulling out (assuming they will still be allowed to park there).
Moving on to another point; just what is going on with Serco and how did they ever get the contract?
If this was agreed with the Scottish Government then heaven help us if we ever say Yes to Scottish Rule. To me Shetland is very quickly heading back to the dark ages.
