News / Croft law blog
GLASGOW-based Shetland solicitor Brian Inkster has launched a blog to keep crofters up to date with changes to the law.
The move follows the confusion surrounding the Crofting Reform Act that has now left owner occupiers unable to decroft their land.
Last week Scottish environment minister Paul Wheelhouse admitted on BBC Radio Shetland that the government had made a mistake on the issue and was seeking to find a way forward.
Inkster said the situation remained unresolved until the government announced a way forward.
“Crofting law appears to be in turmoil in a way that it has possibly not been seen since it was introduced in 1886. The time is surely ripe for a crofting law blog to air the issues arising in an open, clear and transparent way,” Inkster said.
