News / Break for freedom costs man £300
TRYING to run away from police officers cost a Lerwick man dear when he appeared from custody before the town’s sheriff court, on Monday.
Christopher Watson, of 31 Gilbertson Road, pled guilty to a charge of trying to pervert the course of justice at Lerwick police station on Saturday, when he broke free and ran away from police.
Officers had been in the process of executing an arrest warrant issued for outstanding fines.
The 31-year-old was fined £300 as a direct alternative to 14 days in prison.
