Letters / Master of misinterpretation
It seems that Neil Craig is a master of misinterpretation, at least as far my words are concerned (Now’s the time for tunnels; SN 29/7/12).
I really do take exception to his assertion that I characterise “wealth and income inequality of Norway as being responsible for the recent massacre” in Norway. That is not what I wrote at all.
What I did write, and do believe, is that the humane and mature response of survivors to the perpetrator of that terrible day’s events, and his beliefs, is worthy of admiration.
The fact that they were members or guests of the Workers’ Youth League of the Norwegian Labour Party is not lost on me. If that’s in dubious taste, then so be it.
As for tunnels – sorry, I still do worry about the cost. But perhaps Mr Craig, like another writer to these columns (Strange masochistic pleasure; SN 27/7/12), will conclude that I’m just being masochistic!
