News / Frenzy uncertainty
SHETLAND Arts has confirmed that some of this year’s Fiddle Frenzy concerts might now not be taking place in the new Mareel music and cinema venue.
The opening of the £12 million venue at the North Ness is already one year behind schedule.
Shetland Arts is planning a soft opening of the venue but was confident enough to announce a series of Fiddle Frenzy concertstaking in Mareel, starting on 5 August.
On Monday, an arts agency spokeswoman said that they were now making plans to relocate some of the concerts.
“Shetland Arts is hopeful that guests and audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy some of these events in Mareel, pending final touches to the venue.
“Shetland Arts has made plans to re-locate events where possible, so those purchasing tickets should keep an eye on local media and the Shetland Box Office website for updates during the week,” she said.
Tickets for the annual fiddle festival are no on sale via the Shetland Box office website at www.shetlandboxoffice.org
