Looking back on the week: a first for NorthLink, flight funding and more
SUNDAY is the perfect time for that much needed breather in preparation for the week ahead, but also to look back at the news of previous days and perhaps sit down and read some of our stories in more detail.
That is why we offer the ‘looking back on the week’ column.
It is an attempt to offer our reader the opportunity to catch up on the main stories in Shetland as life often gets too busy to be kept up to date.

We started the week with a hugely popular feature on local lass Amber Johnson, NorthLink’s first female master.

A few days later, our reporter Ryan Nicolson published a similarly inspiring story, this time on young footballer Kayla-Marie Pottinger who just returned from in the African country of Zambia where she was coaching children over a two-month period.

Other than that, one reporter spent two and half days at court covering a rare jury trial, covered a new genetic testing scheme for people with Whalsay ancestry, worked their way through a planning application for the Neshion energy park and, among many other tasks, tried to understand how more than £1 million of government funding has allowed Loganair to reinstate weekday Inverness flights.
