Police / Police issue warning over icy roads
POLICE have warned drivers about the icy condition on some of Shetland’s roads this evening (Friday).
Officers said it is “widespread”, with the A970 and A971 particularly affected. There are likely to be ice patches on other untreated roads across the islands.
Shetland Islands Council has been contacted and made aware to enable roads to be treated.
Local policing sergeant Sam Greshon is advising motorists to take care when driving, allow for extra time and adapt to changing conditions.
