News / Police investigate report of careless driving
POLICE are looking for witnesses after a number of cyclists reported that they were forced off their bikes when a silver/blue motor vehicle attempted to overtake them on the A970 north of Channerwick at around 12.30pm on Friday.
The cyclists were heading up the steep section before the south end junction to Sandwick while a number of cars were coming down the hill heading southwards.
A police spokesman said the alleged incident of careless driving took place when the driver of the silver/blue car attempted to pass the cyclists heading north and did not leave enough space.
Police said the actions of the driver meant that the cyclists almost fell off their bikes into the roadside verge.
Anyone who can help police with their enquiries is asked to contact them on telephone 101 at Lerwick Police Station.
